Finding the perfect tutor for your child can be a daunting task, as this will determine how much they enjoy their lessons and how effectively they learn.

To help you make your decision, I'd like to share a little bit about myself below, so you can get to know me and discover more about my teaching style.

Hi there, I’m Alex

Bio

I am a professional tutor with over ten years of experience working with students from primary age through to sixth form, helping them to build their knowledge and confidence across humanities subjects.

I started KidsInTuition out of a desire to help young people boost their self-confidence and thrive academically. I believe that every child can succeed in their studies and that, with the right encouragement and support, all students can unlock their potential.

No two children are the same. That's why I design and deliver bespoke learning programmes that cater to their individual goals, learning styles and strengths. For example, for visual and kinaesthetic learners who may struggle in a typical classroom environment, I like to employ physical and visual learning methods such as posters, mind maps and interactive exercises to help them encode and retain key information. My goal is to make lessons so much more than a simple video call and even make dreaded subjects -dare I say it - fun.

I have experience working with pupils who need additional help, whether it's their understanding, self-belief, or both, that need a little extra nurturing. Within my lessons, I build self-esteem and coping strategies for those who find studying challenging. This includes pupils who have special educational needs such as ADHD and dyslexia and those who want to perform their best but who struggle with the pressures of exams. Every child deserves to enjoy learning and be proud of their successes. I aim to achieve this in my lessons by creating an encouraging, fun and supportive environment.

Education

I am a lover of all things history. Having been fascinated by the subject from a young age, I achieved A* grades in history both at IGCSE and A-level. I went on to complete an MA in History at the University of St Andrews and an MPhil in History at the University of Cambridge.

I worked as a PR and communications professional in London, having completed my MSc in Political Communications from The LSE. I am currently studying to become a psychologist at the University of London, with a specific focus on childhood and developmental psychology.

My background and experience have provided me with expert subject knowledge of the UK curriculum and a desire to imbue my students with the same level of passion and excitement that I have about academia.
